Our beautiful little girl Lauren Olivia Ku'wachüwee (Native American for "Angel Wings") was born 4 weeks 5 days early weighing 5lb 5oz and was considered "big" in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit! ;) These pages are to record her growth so that family in Australia and New Mexico can watch her grow as we do :)
Lauren was an easy baby to take care of, for the most part anyway. She grew fast, as babies do, and grew more adorable each day. She still does! ;) I didn't have any major problems with Lauren's sleeping habits until I was fairly advanced in Robert's pregnancy. By the time I was about 6 months pregnant Lauren decided she wanted to wake up in the middle of the night (usually around 3am) and STAY up for a couple of hours. My body needed rest to "produce" young Master Robert so I wasn't happy at all about this development! To make matters worse Walter was working at the Pentagon doing 12 hour shifts. This was just after 9/11 when we were at war and he'd been given the 6pm to 6am shift. Obviously I didn't get any help during the night, so often when he got home I was tired, grumpy and had often been reduced to tears during the night by Lauren out of sheer frustration and exhaustion! :(
Fortunately for me that didn't last very long and she soon settled back into a good sleeping routine. Not long after Robert arrived, so there went my sleep again ... groan!! ;) Lauren took to being a big sister very well and she just adored the "bubba" who had become a part of our life! :D For the most part she was happy to watch TV or play on her own when I breastfed Robert. By the time he was about 6 months old (and Lauren 16½ months) she was becoming aware of just how much of my time Robert was demanding. That was when sibling rivalry started ... and it still carries on today, 2 years later!!
Lauren has done some adorable things over the past 3 years and I really wish I'd started this journal of memories sooner, because a lot of them are hard to remember! :( I'll have to enlist hubby's help here I think and add them as we remember. From now on, however, I plan on adding to this page at least once a month so that when Lauren has kids of her own and she says "Mum, did I ever do that?" about her own children, I can tell her to go read about it!! ;D For now though I'll stop here as it's getting late and I really need an early night. If you're wondering why I need an early night you'd best read Robert's page when I get that one started!! lol
