Mother after putting her son to bed ... "This is one more day when I worked from son up to son down."

"Saturday's child must work hard for a living ... "

After injurying my shoulder, I'm on doctor's orders to rest my arm and shoulder. Because of this there isn't much text on this page, however, I didn't want Casey to feel neglected! I'll update this page as soon as I'm not so sore or as often as I can! :D

Casey Robert was born at Mercy Maternity Hospital, East Melbourne, Victoria, Australia on November 17, 1990. He weighed 6lb 12.5oz and was 4 weeks 3 days early. He looked so tiny, but in fact he was bigger than his sister Jade was 15 months earlier! Casey was a terrible baby, and I mean that in the most loving way! ;) He wasn't content with being fed every 3-4 hours, he wanted to be fed every hour or two. This left me completely drained, very tired and extremely grumpy! Fortuntely I had Jade doing silly things during the many hours I breastfed Casey to lighten my mood :) I don't remember when he started sleeping through the night, but it was at an older age than Jade. He wouldn't go to sleep without a bottle either, downing up to 3 bottles of milk in one night!! It wasn't good letting him drink milk going to sleep, but when you've got 2 children under the age of 2, you'll do just about anything to get them to sleep at night!! lol I managed to wean him onto water at night and once that was done, he drank a lot less at bedtime. It also saved me a lot of time washing bedding. He wore a disposable nappy AND a cloth nappy but he still managed to overflow them at least once each night!! Considering how much milk (breast and cow) he drank during his infancy, and how chubby his little cheeks were back then, he's certainly skinny by comparison now. He drove me nuts, but just when I was getting totally fed up, he'd look up at me with those big baby blues and smile at me and I'd just melt. He was a beautiful baby, but overall, he was such a horrible child!! ;D

My family seemed to have built up a tradition, without meaning to or realising it I think, of having religious ceremonies carried out at the same church. St. Thomas' Anglican Church in Moonee Ponds is a beautiful old church which has for many years been a special place for me. My Mum and Dad were married there, I was married there, my first son Darren Jnr. was buried there and Jade and Casey were Christened there. It has a certain charm about it which is very endearing as well as being a very awe inspiring place to be. I always felt safe when inside its walls and it held many memories for me. The day of Casey's Christening was rather hectic as Jade was still very young, but it was a very happy day nonetheless :) Casey's Godparents were Steve and Pauline (my ex-husband's close friends) and Dr. Gordon Ennis, my Diabetes specialist. Gordon was wonderful to take the time to be there for Casey when he had such a hectic schedule himself. He was always a wonderful doctor and friend to me over the years and I was honoured he agreed to be Casey's Godfather! :D I don't remember whether Casey behaved himself at his Christening, probably not! ;D I wish I had've kept a diary of Jade's and Casey's early years, because it's just so hard to remember all the details now, 13 years later ... sigh!! I DO, however, remember that Casey was a very chubby baby and had a growth spurt after I made his Christening suit and before the ceremony. What a rush it was adding a panel down the back the day before so it would fit!! ;D

More little tidbits on Casey to come soon! In the meantime, please enjoy his photo pages :D
